In the meantime, a number of technical and safety issues need to be resolved – for example, to test a new parachute
Boeing intends to have its Starliner spacecraft ready for a manned flight to the International Space Station (ISS) by March next year. A company spokesman told Bloomberg that the timing of the crewed launch of the Starliner depends on testing the advanced parachute at high altitude, as well as addressing other technical and safety issues. Parachute tests should take place in November, the source said. By the way, a successful test flight to the ISS of Starliner without a crew took place last year.
Starliner with the crew will go to the ISS only in March next year
Recall that the Starliner manned flight has already been postponed several times : first it was planned at the end of last year, then in March, February and June of this year, but has not yet taken place, which led Boeing to $ 257 million in losses from the Starliner program. A Bloomberg source claims that Boeing is now working with NASA to finally determine the exact date for the launch of the ship. The Starliner spacecraft is designed for a crew of seven, but during the first manned flight, two NASA astronauts are planned to be on board: Barry Wilmore (Barry Wilmore) and Sunita Williams (Sunita Williams).
