Xiaomi has published a new batch of teasers dedicated to the flagship folding model Mix Fold 3. The pictures show that the device will receive a periscope module – this is a rarity for folding models.
This module will provide 5x optical zoom. There will be another module with a portrait lens, it will provide a zoom of 3.2x (in relation to the focal length of the module with an ultra wide angle lens).

On paper, such a camera, spiced up by Leica engineers, looks very powerful for a foldable smartphone. In terms of camera capabilities, the Xiaomi flagship will surpass at least the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5 (it does not have a module responsible for 5x zoom, and besides, a periscope one).
In addition, Xiaomi said something about the material of the hinges – the company calls it “super steel”. We are talking about high-strength steel with a tensile strength of 1800 MPa. This material provides high mechanical stability of the hinge structure.
Recall that Xiaomi previously said that even after 200 thousand folding and unfolding cycles, the Mix Fold 3 screen fold will increase by no more than 10 microns.
