Taylor Swift is boosting the economy with her Eras Tour
Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour, which commenced on March 17, has been making waves in cities across the country. Now, it has been revealed that the tour is not only captivating audiences but also bolstering the economy.
According to the Philadelphia Federal Reserve office, Swift’s tour has significantly contributed to increased hotel revenues in the city. This announcement was made in the Federal Reserve’s Beige Book, which provides a summary of economic conditions in various cities throughout the United States.
The report stated, “Despite the overall slowdown in tourism recovery in the region, hotel revenue in Philadelphia experienced its strongest month since the pandemic began, primarily due to the influx of guests attending Taylor Swift’s concerts in the city.”
Earlier this year, Swift took over Philadelphia’s Lincoln Financial Field, performing on May 12, 13, and 14, treating fans to a 44-song setlist.
Chicago is another city that recognized Swift’s positive impact on the local economy. Choose Chicago, the city’s tourism and marketing organization revealed that Swift’s tour in early June led to a record-breaking occupancy of hotel rooms. Each night of the concert, more than 44,000 hotel rooms were filled, generating $39 million in hotel revenue for the city. Choose Chicago also attributed the high occupancy to other events taking place that weekend, including the James Beard Awards and the ASCO Annual Meeting.
Excitingly, Swift has recently extended her tour, adding dates in South America, Asia, Europe, the United Kingdom, Australia, and other locations. The Eras Tour is now expected to conclude on August 17, 2024, in London.
Denver, Colorado, is the upcoming destination where Swift will captivate audiences, with shows scheduled for Friday, July 14, and Saturday, July 15.
