They may shake when the smartphone is turned off.
Xiaomi 13 Ultra became the first smartphone of the company, in the main camera of which a lens with a variable aperture was registered – it is used in a module with a 1-inch optical format main sensor. After the device went on sale, some users noted that if you shake your smartphone, the aperture blades of this lens begin to shake and move. Naturally, questions arose about the reliability of the design. But they have now been dispelled by Wang Hua, general manager of Xiaomi’s PR department.
The aperture blades of the main lens of Xiaomi 13 Ultra are shifting
He wrote that while the Xiaomi 13 Ultra camera is not activated, the variable aperture lens mechanism does not receive power. Therefore, any impact on the smartphone (shaking) also leads to an impact on the aperture blades – they begin to shift. This is a “normal physical phenomenon”. But as soon as the camera is turned on and power is supplied to the lens drives, the aperture blades “reset” and return to their normal position. “ Therefore, the aforementioned shift is not a malfunction, and users can use it [the lens] with confidence ,” said Wang Hua.
