The authors of The Last of Us have already “sketched out the plot plan” of the third part, but development has not yet begun

Naughty Dog co-director and director of The Last of Us Part II Neil Druckmann spoke on the Script Apart podcast about a possible sequel to the series of post-apocalyptic action films.

Recall, for the first time about The Last of Us Part III, Druckmann mentioned before releasing the second part. After it, he said that a potential triquel must “correspond to the emotional essence” of previous games. Otherwise, the development does not make sense.

By now, according to Druckmann, he and The Last of Us Part II narrative director Halley Gross have “sketched a plot plan” that may appear in The Last of Us III.

“I don’t know how much I can reveal … [Gross] and I sketched out a plot plan — not in development right now, but hopefully it will see the light of day — that will tell a little about what happened after [Part II]. We’ll see, ”said Drackmann.

According to Druckmann, a potential sequel to The Last of Us Part II is now being discussed within the walls of Naughty Dog quite actively, but games of this kind require a lot of time and effort from the creators.

“Making games like this is very difficult. I thought about [Part II] for seven years between the release of the previous part and this one. You have to make sure that you are excited about the idea and afraid of its implementation, ”says Druckmann.

Earlier, Naughty Dog is engaged in an independent multiplayer project in The Last of Us universe, a full-fledged remake of the first part for PS5 and the new Uncharted.
