That’s what Lukashenko promised
President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, at a meeting with employees of Belarusian enterprises, explained how the localization of the BelGee X50 crossover, which is still only a renamed Geely Coolray, will take place. The head of the country said that localization needs to be increased. Moreover, he wants even the engine and gearbox to be produced in Belarus.

“ We need to get our parts for this car. We have everything for this. Some of our enterprises are underutilized. Yes, it is not an easy task to produce your engine and gearbox for a passenger car. But we set ourselves a task. We have a motor plant – let it produce, let it move. We make boxes and engines for other cars. Yes, this is a more delicate job, but we will do it,” Lukashenko said. He also added that the BelGee enterprise will have an additional workshop for stamping body panels, and this is already quite a serious localization.
“ We bought a license from them, i.e. we will already produce BelGee. It will be even better than the one we produce. But this takes a little time. And so, we have a solid program: we must provide our people with our car,” said the President of Belarus.
