Power reserve ranges from 305 to 405 km
Before the official start of sales, BYD opened pre-orders for the Seagull model during the Shanghai Auto Show. Within the first 24 hours, BYD received 10,000 orders for this model, which is currently the cheapest in BYD’s range.
It has now been revealed that BYD sold 14,300 Seagull units in May, with sales of 1,500 units in April. In total, BYD sold 119,603 electric vehicles last month, with Seagull accounting for about 12%.
Seagull offers three trim options, with prices ranging from $10,400 to $12,600. All variants are equipped with a single 74 hp front engine. with a maximum torque of 135 Nm and a top speed of 130 km/h.
The cheapest BYD has become a bestseller
The main difference is in the battery options. The older version is equipped with a 38.88 kWh battery providing a range of 405 km. The other two configurations come with a 30.08kWh battery pack for a range of 305km. Both options use the LFP Blade battery and support up to 40kW fast charging, allowing the Seagull to charge from 30% to 80% in 30 minutes.
Seagull is a 5-door 4-seat model based on the BYD 3.0 electronic platform and belongs to the Ocean series. Dimensions are 3780 mm long, 1715 mm wide and 1540 mm high with a wheelbase of 2500 mm.
The manufacturer called Seagull its first car with a sodium-ion battery, but this version will come later.
