15% faster CPU performance than Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 and 50% faster GPU performance
Today, Qualcomm officially unveiled the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 SoC for mid-range smartphones. The new product is produced using a 4 nm process technology and is the successor to last year’s Snapdragon 7 Gen 1.
Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 CPU performance is 15% faster than Snapdragon 7 Gen 1. GPU performance is an impressive 50% faster. At the same time, consumption is reduced by 20%.
The Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 CPU consists of three clusters. The first has one core with a frequency of 2.63 GHz, the second has three cores with a frequency of 2.4 GHz, and the third has four energy-efficient cores with a frequency of 1.8 GHz.
The first smartphone based on it is Honor 100
The neural processing unit (NPU) of the new system is 60% more productive than the NPU in Snapdragon 7 Gen 1. The GPU SoC supports OpenGL ES 3.2, OpenCL 2.0 FP and Vulkan 1.3 APIs.
Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 is compatible with 4K screens at 60Hz or Full HD+ screens at 168Hz. The system’s ISP supports 200 MP image sensors, as well as 4K video recording at 60 fps. The single-chip system includes a 5G Snapdragon X63 modem, Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 adapters.
It is already known that the first smartphone based on Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 will be Honor 100 , debuting next week.
