At this stage, it is impossible to produce a cheap electric car with a 100 kWh traction battery, and this is exactly what is attributed to an electric car.
In China, a photo of the traction battery of the first Xiaomi electric car appeared. It was not filmed in its entirety, but there is the most important thing – a sticker with characteristics.
The first Xiaomi car may not be cheap at all, but the range will be very large
The data on the sticker says that the voltage is 726.7 V, the capacity is 101 kWh, and the weight is 642 kg. 101 kWh is more than most electric vehicles, including Tesla cars. Accordingly, such a traction battery is not cheap, which means that an electric car with it will not be cheap either.
For comparison, Nio ES6 with a traction battery of the same capacity costs about 400 thousand yuan (about 56 thousand dollars), the price of Zeekr 001 with a battery with a capacity of 100 kWh is smaller (300 thousand yuan or 42 thousand dollars), but this is also a lot. In this case, it is unlikely that the cost of Xiaomi’s first electric car will be less than $40,000 – at least if we talk about a version with a traction battery of such a large capacity. But the power reserve will be decent. On average, an electric car consumes 15-17 kWh to cover 100 km, so you can expect a real range of 600-650 km.
