Camps International, a pioneering social enterprise dedicated to sustainable development and youth empowerment, has officially released its 2025 Impact Report—a comprehensive overview of the organization’s global initiatives in education, environmental protection, and community development. The report, covering efforts from 2023 to 2024, sheds light on more than 413,000 hours of volunteer service by students from around the world, including the UAE.
With its unique model of experiential learning through international school expeditions, Camps International enables youth to become active contributors to solving real-world challenges. Their efforts align with global frameworks such as the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and regional education strategies like the UAE Green Education Partnership.

Experiential Learning for Global Citizenship
Empowering Students Through Real-World Projects
Camps International has long championed experiential learning, giving students firsthand exposure to challenges in environmental restoration, access to education, public health, and sustainable livelihoods. The expeditions immerse participants in grassroots projects that develop not only practical skills but also critical values such as empathy, responsibility, and global citizenship.
These programs directly support the educational and sustainability goals of nations across the Middle East, including the UAE, where governments are pushing for more integrated approaches to sustainability education.
A Model That Promotes Systemic Change
As Sharon Palmer, Managing Director for the UK and Middle East, noted, “This report is more than a snapshot. It reflects the scale of what’s possible when education, sustainability, and community impact come together.” This vision is evident across every project undertaken by Camps International.
Progress in Education and Infrastructure
Supporting Quality Learning Environments
One of the cornerstone areas of Camps International’s work is education. From 2023 to 2024, the number of humanitarian, conservation, and infrastructure projects grew from 541 to 669 completed initiatives. Notably, the organization constructed or renovated 53 classrooms during this period, improving learning conditions for thousands of students across Africa, Southeast Asia, and Latin America.
To date, the cumulative impact includes:
-
310+ classrooms built or upgraded
-
146 school facilities enhanced
-
Thousands of students now have access to safe, equipped learning environments
These efforts promote inclusivity, accessibility, and quality education—a core principle of SDG 4: Quality Education.
Accelerating Environmental Conservation
Tree-Planting and Ecosystem Restoration
In 2023 and 2024, environmental efforts by Camps International saw a significant upswing:
-
Over 1 million trees planted
-
23+ tonnes of marine waste removed
-
100+ miles of coastline cleaned
These projects contribute directly to SDG 13 (Climate Action), SDG 14 (Life Below Water), and SDG 15 (Life on Land).
Wildlife Habitat and Human-Wildlife Coexistence
Camps International now supports conservation efforts across 250,000 acres of critical wildlife habitat. One of the most innovative projects involves the installation of 22 Lion Lights systems near Nairobi National Park. These solar-powered systems help deter lions from approaching villages, reducing livestock loss by up to 90% and lowering human-wildlife conflict.
Enhancing Community Health and Livelihoods
Sanitation, Nutrition, and Medical Access
Camps International’s community development projects prioritize basic human needs:
-
353 sanitation facilities constructed
-
39 community kitchens established
-
7 medical centers supported in 5 countries
These initiatives ensure better hygiene, improved nutrition, and healthcare access, especially in underserved and rural communities.
Sustainable Livelihood Projects
Livelihood interventions—including livestock health programs and micro-enterprise support—help families establish income-generating activities and achieve food security. These initiatives are designed to be scalable, sustainable, and community-driven.
Strategic ESG & CSR Partnerships
Camps International is increasingly recognized as a valuable partner for corporations aiming to meet Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) goals. Through:
-
Long-term school sponsorships
-
Staff volunteer programs
-
Transparent impact tracking
…the organization provides businesses with a credible and scalable way to contribute meaningfully to global sustainability targets.
Inspiring the Next Generation of Changemakers
The 2025 Impact Report is not just a record of past achievements—it’s a call to action.
