Announcement expected in September
Photos showing USB-C connectors for different models of iPhone 15 smartphones were published by Macrumors.
This is further evidence that Apple is preparing to move from Lightning to USB-C this year. Reliable sources spoke about this: Mark Gurman from Bloomberg, Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo and others.
Connectors for iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus and iPhone 15 Pro Max are connected to flexible PCB components. Switching to USB-C will allow Apple to comply with the new rules introduced in Europe. Regulations require Apple to release new iPhones with USB-C ports.
The key change in the iPhone 15 Series shown in the photo is USB-C
iPhone 15 Pro models with USB-C ports are expected to support faster data transfer rates, while standard iPhone 15 models will still support USB 2.0 speeds like Lightning, giving the Pro models an edge.
ShrimpApplePro has revealed that iPhone 15 models will only officially support USB-C accessories certified by the Apple Made for iPhone (MFi) program.
According to Gurman, the announcement of the iPhone 15 will take place on September 12 or 13.
