The latest patch for Civilization VI added the ability to pet dogs, but not cats

Global strategy  Sid Meier’s Civilization VI recently received a  massive patch that brought dozens of balance tweaks. The same update added a small but curious innovation to the game – scouts were able to pet dogs, but this trick will not work with cats.

The CanYouPetTheDog account (which maintains a list of video games in which you can pet a dog or see someone petting it) has posted a message on Twitter about introducing the above feature in Sid Meier’s Civilization VI. The process is shown in the video attached to the tweet: if a player chooses a scout with a dog, then an active icon of interaction with a pet will appear in the lower right corner. After clicking on it, the user will see a cute scene.

But you won’t be able to put a cat in Sid Meier’s Civilization VI. When you select a scout who is accompanied by this pet, the interaction icon will be inactive. Moreover, if you move the cursor over it, a message will appear on the screen: “You can’t just pick up and pet the cat” With this phrase, the developers refer to the famous meme with Boromir performed by Sean Bean from The Lord of the Rings. The actor himself, by the way, voiced the narrator in Sid Meier’s Civilization VI.
