BMW unveils the most powerful version of its base crossover, the 2024 X1 M35i xDrive debuts with a powerful 2.0-litre engine, aggressive styling and various upgrades.
With improvements such as a stronger crankshaft, an optimized oil supply system, and bearing shells and caps carried over from BMW’s six-cylinder engines, the new engine now produces 312 hp. in the range from 5750 to 6500 rpm. The base model has 241 hp.
Directing power to all four wheels is the BMW xDrive system, which is paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission with an integrated mechanical limited-slip differential. Acceleration from 0 to 96 km/h takes 5.2 seconds. The top speed of the X1 M35i xDrive is limited to 250 km/h.

The X1 M35i is the first M Performance model to feature an optional M Compound system using a four-piston caliper with 15.2-inch drilled discs at the front and single-piston units with 13-inch discs at the rear. The calipers are finished in high-gloss gray and sit behind standard 19-inch or optional 20-inch wheels. BMW M adjustable suspension is also standard, along with sports steering.
The highlight of the interior, in addition to optional M sports seats, an Alcantara instrument panel and anthracite roof lining, is the latest version of the BMW iDrive infotainment system.
The BMW X1 M35i xDrive is the first model from the Bavarian brand to feature the latest iDrive 9 infotainment system, featuring a new home screen design and an improved menu structure.
BMW will launch the 2024 X1 M35i xDrive in October 2023. Prices start at $50,895.
