The restart of Artifact is canceled – the game will no longer receive updates, but it has become completely free

Studio Valve on the official Steam website told about the future of its collectible card game Artifact, which has been relaunched ( Artifact 2.0 ) for the last year and a half.

As it turned out, Valve decided to stop the production of Artifact 2.0. The reason is the insufficient number of active players to justify the further development of the project.

In this regard, Valve decided to make both versions of the game free for everyone. The classic Artifact is called Artifact Classic; the restart is Artifact Foundry. The developers talked about the differences between the two variations on a separate page.

“Strictly speaking, Artifact Foundry remains a work-in-progress that lacks subtle finishes and illustrations, but the basics of the gameplay are already in place,” Valve explained.

As part of the transformation into Artifact Classic and Artifact Foundry, it will no longer be possible to buy real money cards (those already purchased have become collectible). Besides, both versions will remain without further updates.

Finally, Valve thanked the users (especially those who helped with the development of the project) and stated that “we are proud of the work done on both games and happy to bring them to a much wider audience

Artifact debuted in November 2018 exclusively on PC ( Steam ). Despite the relatively high marks of journalists, the project was criticized by ordinary players and quickly lost almost the entire audience.
