They still can’t reach an agreement: the Hyundai plant in St. Petersburg

On September 25, the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov, speaking at the industrial exhibition “Innoprom. Kazakhstan” announced that the Russian company will become the buyer of the St. Petersburg Hyundai plant. He said: “We have already made all our decisions regarding the acquisition of Hyundai. At least what was stated directly by the company itself. Therefore, a decision will be made soon.”

The Hyundai plant in St. Petersburg suspended car production in March 2022 due to problems with the supply of components for cars. 2,206 of the plant’s 2,537 employees were idle. Before production stopped, the plant produced Hyundai Solaris, Hyundai Creta, Kia Rio and Kia Rio X-Line models. The production capacity of the plant, launched in 2010, was more than 200 thousand cars per year.
