Only a select few were able to see the car in person.
Toyota held a private preview of its all-new Toyota Hilux pickup truck in Australia, Carbuzz reports. Only a select few of the current (petrol) Hilux users were able to experience it. They were able to drive along a predetermined route and evaluate the pickup in action.

Typically, electric cars (including pickups) turn out to be very powerful, with good cross-country ability and a decent price, but Toyota is taking a different path: the company will offer a simple workhorse, which is focused mainly on getting around the city. In other words, Toyota is not going to compete in this segment with the Tesla Cybertruck and Rivian R1T.

Reportedly, there was only one prototype for this kind of testing, and in general, the public accepted it positively.
Toyota has secretly revealed the all-new Toyota Hilux.

“ Our evaluation engineers and industry partners have confirmed that this city-focused Hilux BEV, while a concept vehicle, looks, feels and drives like a production model,” Toyota Australia Vice President of Sales and Marketing Sean Hanley said. He also noted that he took a ride in the new pickup truck.

It is noted that the Hilux BEV has already gone to Thailand for further testing, and if all goes well, then in the relatively near future Toyota will have a small demonstration fleet of these vehicles.
