According to the Japanese resource BestCarWeb, Toyota is preparing a large minivan, comparable in size to an extended version of the Mercedes-Benz V-Class. Dimensions will be approximately 5300 x 1980 x 2000 mm. The minivan will receive a 3.5-liter V6 engine with a capacity of 415 hp, while the power plant will also include an electric motor with a capacity of 180 hp. The estimated cost of the car in the basic version will be 55-65 thousand dollars.
Toyota will put all the “Chinese Alphards” in their place.
Alphard is inferior to its Chinese counterparts in terms of dimensions: the length of the minivan is 5 meters versus 5.2-5.3 m for the “Chinese”. The new model will be on par with Chinese models in size, but at the same time will provide the comfort of the top versions of the Alphard or Lexus LM. In terms of power, the new Toyota minivan will be able to fight both hybrid and even purely electric versions of their Chinese counterparts. In general, this will be a very interesting model. It’s just not clear yet when it will be released.
