The largest Japanese automaker, Toyota, whose cars are valued for their reliability and quality, has announced a large-scale recall campaign.
The company is recalling about 580,000 of its cars in Japan after a risk of brake system failure was discovered.
Toyota’s vaunted quality has failed.
The bolts on the pedals of the affected vehicles may not be tightened correctly, local broadcaster NHK reported. In the worst-case scenario, the brake pedal may simply not work, which could lead to an accident.
At this time, neither Toyota nor regulators have said whether this problem has led to any actual accidents. The list of cars that were included in the list has not been published.
