Xiaomi patented a smartphone with a removable main camera
Xiaomi has recently received many patents for smartphones with unusual designs. Today, 91Mobiles has discovered another patent from the company that describes the design of a smartphone with a removable main camera module.
According to the patent, the main camera unit will be located in a special recess on the rear panel, from which it can be easily removed. This is probably a magnetic mount. The exchange of data between the camera and the smartphone will take place through special contact pads. One of these connectors will be located on the upper end of the device, thanks to which the main camera unit can be used for taking selfies. Thus, the company will be able to create a smartphone with a completely frameless display without any cutouts.
It is worth noting that this is just a patent, and a device with this design may never see the light of day. Moreover, lately, smartphone manufacturers have seriously started researching the possibility of installing a front camera under the display. ZTE even launched the first such commercial device called the Axon 20, which, unfortunately, cannot yet boast a decent selfie quality.
