The price was reduced due to the transition to a cheaper battery
Xpeng has officially unveiled the new version of the Xpeng P7i 550, which is priced at $30,800.
The key difference from the previously released model is the replacement of the lithium battery pack with a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack, and the capacity has decreased from 86.2 to 64.4 kWh. This resulted in a reduction in range from 702 km to 550 km and a price reduction of $3,600.
The battery supplier is EVE, which also supplies batteries to Dongfeng brands such as Forthing. In 2021, the Xpeng P7 has a variant with LFP battery manufactured by CATL with a range of 480 km. However, Xpeng has stopped assembling this configuration due to low demand among Chinese buyers. Now Xpeng is going back to the LFP battery.
