Recognizing the lack of resources available to support children whose loved ones struggle with addiction or have succumbed to overdose, the “Not One More” York Chapter is spearheading a pilot program known as the “Fences and Bridges Club.” This program, designed for children aged 6-15, seeks to provide a safe and nurturing environment where they can connect with peers who have faced similar experiences.

Slenker, driven by her personal journey and the lack of resources available to children in similar situations, has passionately advocated for the establishment of this program. She emphasizes that there has been a noticeable absence of dedicated resources or guidance for children grappling with the complex emotions and challenges that arise from living with addiction or the loss of a loved one to overdose. With the launch of the “Fences and Bridges Club,” children in York County will finally have access to a supportive environment where they can freely express themselves and receive guidance from experienced mentors.

The inaugural meeting of the “Fences and Bridges Club” is scheduled to take place on July 26, from 6 to 7 p.m., at York Township Park.
