Samsung Galaxy Note gets Hindi keyboard, improved battery in new update for India

Popular tablet-smartphone hybrid gets an Over-The-Air update that brings a brand new Hindi keyboard, improves the existing English one and increases the battery life

The Samsung Galaxy Note is one of the most talked-about handsets in India currently. According to the guys at the XDA forums, the device has received a new Over-The-Air (OTA) update for Android Gingerbread v2.3.6 (Kernel 2.6.35.7) which brings a bunch of new features.

For starters, the tablet-smartphone hybrid now has a Hindi keyboard, letting you quickly and easily type in India’s official language. The English keyboard also receives a new look with five rows of keys instead of the four earlier.

The update also comes with a new unlock screen as well as a torch widget. XDA users at are also reporting improved battery life, although we can’t attest to that yet.

Our own attempts at download the update failed both on OTA and Kies, but that seems to be a problem with our unit more than anything. If you do succeed in downloading the update, please do let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
