Huawei Technologies has patented a sub-screen camera in a smartphone. The patent is called “Design, camera module and terminal equipment for a hidden front camera.”
The description of the patent says that the screen hides the camera module when it is not in use, while it will be almost impossible to notice the location of the front camera. Recall that the first prototypes of smartphones with on-screen cameras, which were shown last year, were equipped with screens of not very high resolution in the front camera area. This was done so that the screen allows more light to pass through to get high-quality images. However, the photographs were still not very high-quality, and the screen image in the camera area was too pixelated.
OnePlus recently announced that several manufacturers will release products with a camera under the screen this year. It is known that Xiaomi, Vivo and other companies are working on similar devices.
