Charging power exceeds 500 kW
According to a source, the Japan Electric Vehicle Fast Charger Association, responsible for the development of the CHAdeMO standard, introduced a new version of the charging protocol – CHAdeMO 3.0. A key innovation is an increase in the charging speed of electric vehicles by increasing power to 500 kW (with a maximum current of 600A) and even higher.
5 minutes of charging – 200 km. The Chademo 3.0 3.0 standard for electric vehicles takes charging speed to a new level
CHAdeMO 3.0 was developed in conjunction with the China Electricity Council, so it is compatible with the national Chinese standard for charging electric vehicles GB / T, so the potential audience of CHAdeMO 3.0 is high. Moreover, CHAdeMO charges are common in Europe along with the combined charging system (CCS).
The transmission of such a large power makes charging an electric car more time-closer to refueling with ordinary gasoline or diesel fuel. According to rough estimates, five minutes of connecting the car to the CHAdeMO 3.0 charging station gives the battery of the electric vehicle a charge sufficient to cover more than 200 km. Considering that high-capacity batteries in cars are not very wide so far, 10 minutes of connecting to CHAdeMO 3.0 will ensure full charging of an average statistical electric car.
CHAdeMO 3.0 also regulates the features of compatible charging stations. They will use a more compact charger, and will also use a liquid cooling system. It is reported that the new standard will first be tested on commercial vehicles (next year), and only then it will appear in cars.
