50% of All Cancer Deaths Can Be Prevented If We All Do These Things !

Cancer Deaths Can Be Prevented

According to a new study 20% to 40% of all cancer cases (and about 50% of all deaths from cancer) can be prevented if people did only four things in their everyday life:

  • Exercise regularly
  • Stay smoke-free
  • Skip booze or drink alcohol only in moderation
  • Maintain a healthy BMI (Body max index)

These four things would be enough to decrease the cancer rates and cancer deaths, according to the research published by JAMA Oncology.

Cancer Deaths Can Be Prevented

The main reason behind Dr Song’s research was the study published in Science back in January 2015 that explained that one third of the cancer risk can be caused by genetics or environment while the rest can be created by random DNA mutations in stem cells. Unfortunately, there was a misinterpretation of this study so Dr. Song wanted to explain the research with his own that examined more than 130.000 white people.

These people were divided into two groups according to their lifestyles: Ones that have low-risk or healthier lifestyle and the others that have high-risk or unhealthy lifestyle.

The final finding was that the people from the low-risk group was less likely to develop and die from cancers. All the people in these group shared the same 4 characteristics:

  • They didn’t smoke. These people weren’t smokers at all or they were smoke-free for 3 or 4 years.
  • They didn’t drink, or drank in moderation. The men from this group had no more than 2 drinks a day while the women no more than 1 drink.
  • They had a healthy BMI.In this case, that meant a BMI between 18.5 and 27.5. (The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention classify a BMI over 25 as overweight.)
  • They exercised regularly. The participants in this group either exercised for 75 minutes a week or did 150 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise.

So, the healthy style after all seems to be a good prevention from developing cancer. Don’t wait and start your own healthy way of life as soon as possible!!
