For many potential buyers, this characteristic of a smartphone can be one of the decisive factors.

A couple of years ago, most smartphones were equipped with 3000 mAh batteries and 10-watt charging. But recently, the average battery capacity has grown significantly, the power and charging speed are growing even faster.

5000 mAh and 100 W is the new “norm” for smartphones

Informed Chinese insiders claim that in the first quarter of 2021, 5000 mAh batteries and support for fast charging technology of 100 W or more will become a completely new norm for many smartphones.

Back in 2019, Xiaomi and Vivo demonstrated their technologies for such high-speed charging, but they have not yet been implemented in commercial smartphones. Recently, 120-125W fast chargers were presented by several companies at once, including Iqoo, Oppo, and Realme.

The first smartphones with support for such fast charging are expected to hit the market in August-September this year. For many potential buyers, this characteristic of a smartphone can be one of the deciding factors, so it is expected that such smartphones will quickly flood the market.

So far, the question remains how quickly the residual capacity of the batteries will decrease when using ultra-fast charging and how safe such devices will be.
