Microsoft finds Aptos easier to read than Calibri
Si Daniels, chief product design manager for Microsoft Office software, spoke about an important innovation in the company’s office applications suite: for the first time in 15 years, the main font will change.
“ For 15 years, our beloved Calibri was Microsoft’s default font, but our relationship came to a natural conclusion. Today we are entering the final phase of a major change that will see Aptos appear as the new default font in Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel for hundreds of millions of users, ” Daniels said in a post on the Medium platform.

Aptos is reportedly designed by designer Steve Matteson, who has previously created TrueType and Segoe fonts. The advantages of Aptos include the absence of serifs, the predominance of simple letter shapes and even strokes, so this font is easy to read.
An update to Office that introduces Aptos as the primary font will roll out in the coming months.
