But in others, the increase will be modest.

Some games with ray tracing active effects may experience several times the performance of Radeon graphics cards in the near future.

The upcoming Radeon Vulkan driver, RADV, for Linux, which is currently in its review phase, is expected to deliver a huge performance boost.

In some games, such a driver can improve performance by up to three times. For example, just such an increase was recorded in Hitman 3, and in Lego Builders Journey the increase was twofold.

At the same time, such an increase, unfortunately, will not be everywhere. In Control we are talking about an additional 5 fps, in Minecraft RTX about 10 fps are added when using the Radeon RX 6800.

As experts explain, it’s all about the technology of the driver.

It converts radv_CmdBuildAccelerationStructuresKHR into a simple shim that puts the actual build commands on a queue where they are accumulated and dispatched as late as possible. This especially helps in games that don’t execute any native build batch commands.
