Tech Day 2023 will take place today

Samsung allegedly confirmed that it will present the Exynos 2400 single-chip system today, at the Tech Day 2023 event, as reported by trusted insider Ice Universe.

Earlier, information appeared that Samsung is considering the possibility of developing its own unique graphics processor, which could mean the end of its partnership with Advanced Micro Devices (AMD). The upcoming Exynos 2400 SoC could be Samsung’s last mobile platform with an AMD GPU.

Critics were not entirely satisfied with the performance of the Eclipse 920 GPU, a component of the Exynos 2200, as it was seen to lag behind the competition despite its commendable ray-tracing capabilities. The upcoming Exynos 2400, which includes the Xclipse 940, is expected to feature improved specifications. However, doubts remain about its ability to outshine its competitors.

Samsung’s ‘dream chip’, the Exynos 2500, is rumored to strengthen Samsung’s position in the smartphone industry. This potential shift to native GPUs marks a strategic pivot to achieve technology independence by 2025. Samsung is targeting a wider range of applications, including the automotive and artificial intelligence sectors.

However, Samsung and AMD recently extended their strategic licensing agreement to include AMD Radeon graphics in future mobile platforms, indicating that the partnership between the two companies remains unchanged for now.
