Twitter has returned simplified retweets – they were complicated before the US presidential election
Twitter has returned standard retweets without automatically opening a comment window. This is reported in the blog of the service. The company expected the new option to help people share their own thoughts on the topics discussed.
The complication of retweets happened in October. In the process of retweeting, the social network began to automatically open a window for comments. It was possible to retweet the entry unchanged, but this required leaving the window blank.
The company concluded that the new option did not bring about the desired changes. The number of cited publications increased, but 45% of them contained one word. At the same time, the total number of retweets decreased by 20%.
Recall that the day before, Twitter announced the closure of the video service Periscope. The company noted that despite the drop in user activity, the cost of maintaining the site was growing. In the future, the social network intends to develop video broadcasts on its platform.
