Speed up to 900MB/s
IBM introduced the 50TB TS1170 drive, which can hold up to 150TB when using data compression.
The TS1170 is a tape drive that is still used in a number of areas. In particular, for long-term storage of data in conditions where constant and fast access to them is not required.
A 50 TB drive that can store 150 TB when compressed. IBM TS1170 Tape Drive Introduced
Compared to the previous model TS1160, the volume has increased by two and a half times. The novelty is available in versions 70F and 70S, which differ in interfaces: Fiber Channel 16 Gb / s and SAS 12 Gb / s, respectively.
The data transfer rate of the drive is 400 MB/s, and in the case of compression, it rises to 900 MB/s. There are encryption capabilities that are compatible with IBM Security Key Lifecycle Manager. The 3U rack mount kit makes the 70F compatible with most 19″ racks, allowing it to be front or rear mounted without the use of tools.
