But Apple hasn’t made a decision yet
It looks like Apple might actually release a new MacBook at a price point that the company isn’t currently playing in.
We had previously heard about this possibility, but now it is reported by insider and Tianfeng International analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.
A cheap MacBook could become a reality.
According to his message, Apple has not yet decided whether to release such a device, but its release could allow the company to sell an additional 8-10 million laptops per year. For comparison, last year the company sold about 27 million, that is, the increase will be very significant.
The company can take such a step against the backdrop of the current decline in MacBook sales. But Apple wants to solve the problem not only with a cheap model. Another option is to launch early the new MacBook Pros based on the M3 line of platforms. Kuo says Apple attributes the decline in laptop sales in part to the fact that the M2 SoC provides only a minor performance boost over the M1, while the M3 should bring a more significant boost. Also in the future, Apple may release completely new MacBook Pros with a new design, but only in 2025. However, if the company manages to increase sales up to this point, the new model may not come out.
