Slider prototype with hardware QWERTY keyboard in live photos
Sony Ericsson, which later became Sony Mobile Communications, was one of the founders of the mobile phone industry and then smartphones. However, over time, her fame faded.
A failed legend: the Sony Ericsson VAIO smartphone we lost forever
Now a selection of photos of an interesting model Sony Ericsson VAIO, which never made it to store shelves, has appeared on the network.
They were published by the thematic resource XDA Developers. It is noted that this is a prototype of a Sony Ericsson smartphone under the VAIO brand, which never fell into the hands of end users.
It was the predecessor of the first VAIO smartphone based on the Android operating system, which finally entered the market after the VAIO division was split from Sony in a separate campaign.
The smartphone is made in a now rare side slider form factor with a hardware QWERTY keyboard with the ability to set the screen at an angle to the keyboard. It is equipped with a 5.5-inch screen with massive bezels by modern standards and hardware navigation buttons. The “ancient” version of Android 2.1 Eclair is installed on it. The VAIO brand is clearly written on the back of the device. Also on the back is a single camera with flash.
