Details of the negotiation process are not disclosed.
Aeroflot CEO Sergei Aleksandrovsky said the airline wants to buy 47 aircraft from an operating lease and is negotiating insurance settlements with foreign lessors.
Sergei Alexandrovsky visited the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, where he told reporters that the process turned out to be a little more complicated than Aeroflot expected. However, the carrier is in a “quite active phase”.
“We are quite actively moving on the insurance settlement with lessors, about 47 aircraft are in operation,” said the general director of Aeroflot.
Aeroflot is trying to buy 47 aircraft from foreign companies
Since the lessors, as Sergei Aleksandrovsky put it, are extremely sensitive on this issue, he refused to disclose the details of the negotiation process. But he added that as a result, these aircraft should become the property of a specially formed leasing company, for which leasing payments will be made.
Earlier, the Ministry of Industry and Trade announced Russia’s plans to create a leasing company in Africa. Now we are choosing the location of the Russian leasing company.
It was also reported that the Aeroflot group, which includes the carrier of the same name, Rossiya and Pobeda airlines, plans to remove 84 of its aircraft from registration in foreign registries this year.
