One of the planes will be named after Zhirinovsky
Despite the sanctions, the fleet of Russian airlines is gradually growing with foreign aircraft. Thus, the general director of Aeroflot, Sergei Aleksandrovsky, said that the company had agreed with the State Transport Leasing Company (GTLK) on the supply of two Boeing 737-900s from the secondary market.

“ We made an offer for the lessor [GTLK] , it was accepted, so yes, we sign these aircraft. They are from the secondary market, but the planes are quite fresh at the same time , ”said Aleksandrovsky. He added that one plane would be named after the Russian poet Gavriil Derzhavin, the second one – in honor of Vladimir Zhirinovsky. Both airliners will start operating routes from mid-July.
