Brandenburg economy minister Jorg Steinbach said the electric car maker should speed up production
Tesla has been forced to increase waiting times for new vehicles in Germany after the company announced price cuts across its entire lineup.
Entry-level Model Y prices were slashed by about 17% in the middle of this month, while Long Range and Performance variants were slashed by 4% and 1%, respectively. Following these cuts, Tesla said the lead time for base models now falls between February and March, up from January-March.
Brandenburg Economy Minister Jörg Steinbach said the electric car maker should speed up production to reduce waiting times for customers. Auto News Europe reports that the Tesla plant in Germany is adding 200-300 people to its workforce on a weekly basis.
Tesla has cut prices in many of its critical markets, including China, Europe and North America. The decline has been especially pronounced in the US, with the entry-level Tesla Model Y now available for $52,990, up from $65,990. It also allows you to receive a $7,500 tax credit.
Recall that in early January, hundreds of Chinese Tesla owners staged a protest, demanding discounts after a sudden price cut .
