After two years of searching, the speedrunner found the rarest staff in Diablo II and assembled his “Holy Grail”

American speedrunner Alex Sementelli, better known by the pseudonym MrLlamaSC, completed the Holy Grail challenge in the original Diablo II after four and a half years of effort.

The “Holy Grail” in Diablo II is the game’s passage to collect all the sets and unique items on your own (not by purchasing). This is exactly the task Sementelli set himself in September 2016.

To implement his idea, MrLlamaSC created a sorceress with a bonus to the Magic Find parameter, which is responsible for the chance of a magic / rare/unique / belonging to one or another item falling out of the enemy.

By the end of August 2020, MrLlamaSC had reached level 99 (max), but the last item needed to complete the Holy Grail – the Mang Song’s Lesson staff – was still missing.

It’s worth noting that Mang Song’s Lesson is indeed a scarce item. The drop rate in Diablo II is roughly 0.0016%, according to player estimates. It took Sementelli more than two years to find this staff alone.

In a 25-minute recording of the last episode from the cycle about “The Holy Grail,” MrLlamaSC still finds Mang Song’s Lesson (the streamer is aware of it at the 26th second) and then can’t come to his senses for some time.

In addition to filling out the Holy Grail, MrLlamaSC has been doing other things over the past four and a half years, running Diablo II at Summer Games Done Quick 2019.
