We can finally understand which Qualcomm platforms will compete with Apple M in the PC market. Data from an upcoming presentation has leaked online, where the Snapdragon X Elite SoC is described.
Apparently, Snapdragon X will be a new line, and the Elite model will take the place of the flagship in it. The new platform will receive a 12-core processor based on Oryon cores. with a frequency of up to 4.3 GHz. These are new cores for Qualcomm, created based on the developments of Nuvia, which Qualcomm bought some time ago.
All parameters of the SoC Snapdragon X Elite revealed
The Adreno GPU (without a personal number or name yet) is characterized by a performance of 4.6 TFLOPS. This is a lot for an Arm single-chip system, but far from a record. For example, the Apple M2 Pro has a GPU with a capacity of 6.8 TFLOPS, while the M2 Ultra has a GPU capacity of 27.2 TFLOPS. In addition, teraflops describe “pure” performance, which has a very indirect relationship to the real tasks of ordinary users.
The Snapdragon X Elite will also support LPDDR5X-8533 memory with an eight-channel controller, 136 GB/s bandwidth, and support for a maximum of 64 GB.
The Snapdragon X Elite was reportedly designed from the start with a focus on artificial intelligence. Therefore, there is a very powerful NPU unit here. In particular, the Stable Diffusion neural network is promised to work in real-time.
The rest includes Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, hardware encoding and decoding AV1. The platform will be produced according to 4 nm standards.
