In November 2019, it was reported that Amazon was going to introduce its own streaming platform in early 2020.
Now there is new information. According to the New York Times, an early version of the product will appear later this year, although “sources close to Amazon” report that the premiere may be delayed until 2021 due to the spread of coronavirus.
Amazon is about to launch rival Google Stadia in 2021
Project Tempo, the so-called Amazon project, will compete with other streaming platforms such as Stadia, GeForce NOW and Microsoft xCloud.
Recall that previous attempts to convince players of the need for streaming services were not very successful. Google Stadia disappointed with the sales results, as creators, and the quality of reviewers’ implementation. GeForce Now has won the hearts of players, but many publishers (including Bethesda, Activision Blizzard or 2K Games) have removed their products from the service. Microsoft xCloud is still being tested.
Cloud technologies are far from perfect, but have good potential and maybe a great solution in the future. It is possible that Project Tempo will become the future.
