AMD admitted that in the past six months it has limited the supply of its products to the market.

But not all products.

Sometimes the shortage of certain products and, as a result, increased prices do not stem from problems in the market, but from the actions of the company itself. Usually in this they do not admit that AMD decided to make an exception.

During a speech to investors after the publication of the next financial report, the head of AMD Lisa Su (Lisa Su) admitted that the company held back the supply of its products for two quarters.

We do believe that the first quarter was the bottom for our PC market – for our PC business, and we will see some growth in the second quarter and then seasonally higher growth in the second half of the year. In terms of underdelivery, we underdelivered products in the third and fourth quarters. We will also follow the same strategy in the first quarter, but to a lesser extent.

That is, AMD artificially created a deficit throughout the second half of 2022 and now continues to do the same, but not as actively. Thus, if any product during this period was (or remains) in short supply and with tangible markups, it is at least partially the fault of AMD itself.

At the same time, in parallel with such a strategy, AMD itself had to reduce prices for some of its products, while other products, for example, Radeon RX 6000 video cards, were actively cheaper throughout the past six months.

Recall that yesterday AMD announced the prices for Ryzen 7000X3D processors .
