Tests have shown it to be ineffective
AMD is experimenting with a new type of heat-spreading cover for its processors. One option is the evaporation chamber.
In this case, the CPU cover itself contains an evaporation chamber, as if it were part of the cooling system. AMD began such experiments even before the release of the Ryzen 7000, and such a cover could appear in this particular line of processors. However, this decision was rejected.
AMD could build a vapor chamber directly into the lid of Ryzen 7000 processors
It turned out that, contrary to expectations, the effectiveness of such a cover does not improve much. The temperature difference compared to a conventional lid is only about 1 degree, so complicating the design is simply pointless. AMD’s tests have shown that the cooler matters a lot more.
However, it is not a fact that in the future AMD will not finalize this idea and will not implement it in some of the next Ryzen line.
