AMD graphics won’t appear in Samsung Exynos processors until 2022. The performance of the Galaxy S21 will suffer from this.

Traditionally, the upcoming flagship smartphones Samsung Galaxy S21 (or S30) series, produced for the European and Middle East markets, will be based on the company’s own Exynos processor. In recent years, the performance gap has widened between the Exynos and Snapdragon versions of the smartphone. The well-known Ice Universe insider claims that the situation will not change next year.

Earlier it was reported that Samsung has teamed up with AMD to develop a GPU that will become part of the Exynos chipsets and will allow Samsung to take the lead in video performance. However, Ice Universe, which has repeatedly published highly accurate predictions for Samsung products, has stated that AMD graphics will not appear in Exynos processors until 2022. This means that flagship smartphones based on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 875 chipset will continue to outperform similar models with internal processors from the South Korean tech giant.

At the moment, practically nothing is known about the Exynos 1000 processor. Most likely, it will be manufactured according to the 5nm process technology, like the Snapdragon 875. Nevertheless, the Mali GPU will still remain the weak point of the chipset, which, in addition, to be lagging behind in performance, is also less energy efficient compared to GPU Adreno from Snapdragon.

It is assumed that the Exynos 1000 will form the basis of the older version of the upcoming Galaxy S21 Ultra smartphone, while the two “simpler” models will be based on the Exynos 992 chip, which was previously expected to debut in Note 20 smartphones.
