AMD has unveiled the first October Radeon Software Adrenalin 2020 Edition 20.10.1 driver, whose main purpose is to support fresh games. We are talking about the addition of The Ancient Gods, Part One to the shooter  Doom Eternal, the upcoming action movie Watch Dogs: Legion, car racing DIRT 5, and the preliminary update for the Shadowlands add-on to MMORPG World of Warcraft.

But these are not all innovations. AMD engineers have also fixed a number of technical issues with the previous driver that might appear on some systems:

  • sound worked unstable via HDMI on Radeon RX 5000 accelerators;
  • Reduced desktop frame rate when exiting a game for Vulkan API with Radeon FreeSync enabled on dual display systems;
  • Uploading or streaming to YouTube was not working properly
  • Genshin Impact was not detected or displayed in the Radeon Software Games tab.
  • some Windows screensavers like Bubbles crashed on Radeon RX 5000 series graphics cards;
  • Artifacts were observed on the desktop or in idle mode with two or more connected high refresh rate displays and Radeon FreeSync enabled on Radeon RX 5000 series graphics cards.
  • Upgrading to Radeon Software Adrenalin 2020 Edition from Radeon Software 2019 Edition via Radeon Settings failed with an error message.Also, work is underway to eliminate known deficiencies;
    • extended sync sometimes causes a black screen;
    • Performance Metrics Overlay and Performance Tuning tab incorrectly report higher than expected idle clock speeds on Radeon RX 5700 series graphics cards;
    • changing the HDMI scaling slider will lock the frame rate at 30fps.

      The Radeon Software Adrenalin 2020 Edition 20.10.1 driver can be downloaded in versions for Windows 7 (64-bit) or Windows 10 (64-bit) both from the official AMD website and from the Radeon settings menu. The new version is dated October 19 and is intended for video cards and integrated graphics of the Radeon HD 7000 family and above.
