Unfortunately only in China

While Nvidia is releasing a $500 GeForce RTX 4060 Ti  16GB graphics card that claims to be the most overpriced model of the generation, AMD, on the contrary, may reduce the memory size of one of its adapters to make it cheaper and more attractive.

The Radeon RX 7900 GRE (Golden Rabbit Edition) might be a very attractive proposition, but unfortunately it will only be sold in China.

AMD to show Nvidia how to make graphics cards with 16 GB of memory?

According to the ITHome resource, the novelty can get 16 GB of memory with a 256-bit bus. For comparison, the RX 7900 XT has 20 GB of memory and a 320-bit bus. As for the GPU parameters, they will allegedly be slightly worse than those of the RX 7900 XT, which, recall, has 5376 stream processors.

Reducing the amount of memory to 16 GB will definitely not affect performance, but the truncated bus and GPU will make the RX 7900 GRE somewhat slower than the RX 7900 XT. In the end, as always, everything will be decided by the price, but there is no data on it yet. In China, the RX 7900 XT originally came out with a suggested price of 7,400 yuan (about $1,030), but now such cards are already on sale for 5,700 yuan (about $800). The GRE model should be even cheaper.

Recall that in 2020, AMD released the Radeon RX 590 GME (Golden Mouse Edition) video card , also only for the Chinese market.
