Then it was reported that applications could be put into a hibernation state. This means that they are not actively used and optimized for storage, which means the device frees up more memory but does not clear the cache. Now the first details have appeared.

As Mishaal Rahman, editor-in-chief of the well-known resource XDA Developers, writes on his Twitter page, the upcoming app hibernation feature in Android 12 will work differently depending on whether it is enabled for one user or for all users who registered to a specific device.

So, the first details about the hibernation function of Android applications appeared. If the app is hibernated for one user, the system will clear the cache. Google will add more options if the app hibernates for all users.

How all this will actually be implemented is still a mystery, but there is not much time left for developers before releasing the first version of Android 12, so news will appear more and more often.
