Apple introduced its AirTag tracker back in April 2021, and now there is information about when the geotag will have a successor. According to the forecast of well-known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the model, tentatively called AirTag 2, will go into mass production in the fourth quarter of next year. Accordingly, it will enter the market at the end of 2024 – the beginning of 2025.

The expert also said that the second-generation AirTag will be better integrated with Apple’s Vision Pro mixed reality headset and will become part of the “spatial computing ecosystem.” As for the characteristics of AirTag 2, there are practically no details about them yet. We can only assume that if the first AirTag is based on the Apple U1 chip, then the second version can use the Apple U2 processor. Most likely, the new geotag will have other improvements.
