A woman in China was arrested for chewing through an anti-theft cable to steal a $960 iPhone 14 Plus.
The unusual theft was recorded by a security camera. The video shows a woman named Qiu stopping in front of a smartphone stand, leaning on the counter, and placing her right hand on the phone. She bites the cable several times, puts the phone in her bag, and leaves the store.

The store manager, surnamed Wang, said that an alarm went off during the theft. However, employees initially did not notice anything unusual. Shortly after Qiu left, store employees noticed the cable and the missing phone, and then called the police. CCTV footage showed what happened and police were able to track the woman down and arrest her outside the house 30 minutes after the theft.
