Xiaomi introduced the new generation of the Mi Band bracelet, which, according to the manufacturer, has become even more convenient and functional. Thus, the company increased the size of the colour screen from 0.95 “to 1.1 ” (resolution 294 x 126 pixels, brightness 450 nits, colour gamut 16 bits), and now uses a magnetic connector for charging.
Today, the Chinese company Xiaomi introduced a new version of its fitness tracker Xiaomi Mi Band 5. It received not only improved technical specifications, but also new functionality.
Externally, Xiaomi Mi Band 5 is practically no different from its predecessor Mi Band 4. This is still the same “capsule” with a removable strap. From external changes, you can immediately notice a 20% enlarged display, which now has a diagonal of 1.1 inches with a resolution of 126 × 294 pixels. The screen received an AMOLED matrix. The display supports more than 100 different animated dials, and its maximum brightness was 450 nits. The company also finally improved the charging process of the fitness tracker. Now for this, you do not have to remove the device itself from the strap, as it was before because along with the Xiaomi Mi Band 5, the kit comes with magnetic charging.
In addition, Xiaomi updated the sensors for reading the heart rate (+ 50% accuracy) and sleep quality (+ 40%) due to infrared reading for better control and user interaction (only in the Mi Band 5 version with NFC), and the number of sports “pro modes” has grown to 11 (including yoga, shaping, etc.) There is a special regimen for women’s health.
Other technical characteristics of the model include 512 KB of RAM, 16 MB of ROM, a 125 mAh battery (up to two weeks of battery life is stated on a single charge), 5ATM water resistance, Bluetooth 5.0 BLE interface for connecting to smartphones with Android 5.0 or iOS 10 or newer versions BY. Dimensions were 47.2 x 18.5 x 12.4 mm, and weight – about 12 g.
As already mentioned, Mi Band 5 is offered in two versions: with and without NFC. The price is 189 and 229 yuan, respectively (1850 and 2240 rubles at the current rate). The company claims that Xiaomi Mi Band 5 received a new processor of an unnamed model that will allow the fitness tracker to more accurately monitor user activities. In total, the bracelet is able to distinguish between 11 types of physical training, this is almost twice as much as the predecessor could. Sleep tracking has improved, now the fitness tracker determines not only night sleep, but also daytime sleep, and also gives recommendations for improving it.
Of the new features, one can track the menstrual cycle and determine the level of oxygen in the blood. Also, the device can now remotely control the shutter of the smartphone’s camera. As before, the bracelet can count the steps of the user and show notifications about messages and incoming calls.
Xiaomi Mi Band 5 has a battery capacity of 125 mAh, which will allow it to work on a single charge from 14 to 20 days. There is also protection against water ingress. Separately, a version with an NFC chip for contactless payments will appear on sale.
Xiaomi Mi Band 5 will go on sale in China on June 18 at a price of $ 27.
