Find My Search is no longer limited to Apple devices
Apple has taken an important step for its ecosystem today. The Find My Network access program is presented (for the Russian market it is translated as “Locator Network”), which opens the search function in the “Locator” application for third-party gadgets connected via Bluetooth.
Apple allows iPhone, iPad, and Mac to search for “other people’s” gadgets, accessories, and even e-bikes
Previously, Locator only supported the search for branded Apple devices, but now the functionality is extended to “foreign” gadgets (from other manufacturers).
Apple notes that new Locator-compatible products from Belkin, Chipolo, and VanMoof will be available starting next week.
For example, the latest electric bicycles VanMoof S3 and X3 will be able to connect to Locator, as well as Belkin Soundform Freedom True Wireless Earbuds.
The Find My Network Accessory program for accessories is now part of the Made for iPhone (MFi) program. Third-party devices will be tested to meet Apple requirements. Approved products can be added to the app under the new Items tab. In the store, such devices will be marked with the Works with Apple Find My icon.
