The share of Samsung and Huawei decreased
Analytical company Counterpoint Research shared some interesting statistics. Apple is seeing a significant increase in sales of refurbished iPhones, used smartphones that Apple has officially refurbished and are selling at a discounted price.
Sales of refurbished Apple iPhones grew by 16% in 2022, pushing its share of the secondary smartphone market to almost 50%, from 44% in 2021 to 49% in 2022.
Apple becomes ‘fastest growing brand’ as sales of discounted used iPhones soar
This makes Apple the “fastest growing brand” in the global market for used and refurbished smartphones, Counterpoint Research analysts said. For Apple, the effect of this is twofold: demand for new iPhones is decreasing, but demand for various subscription services is growing.
For comparison, Samsung’s share fell from 28% to 26%, while Huawei’s share fell from 4% to 2%. Other smartphone makers, including Oppo and Vivo, have held their ground.
